Winterworld Fremantle is skating into the harbour city once again, and taking over the Esplanade Reserve in Fremantle from 29 June – 21 July, for 23 days of outdoor ice-skating and spectacular winter wonderland for all ages.

More than just ice skating-  this winter festival is jammed packed with fun and activities for the whole family!

Why not beat the crowds and save!

Skate into Winterworld Fremantle from 1 -5  July with under 5yrs ice skate FREE (usually $5) and everyone else skating $15 + BF (Saving up to $9 per skater)

Winterworld is this July holiday’s most unique and iconic festival with its wide range of activities for the young and young at heart.

Fremantle Esplanade will be breaking the ice with Australia’s largest open-air ice skating rink with falling ‘snow’, the sound of kids squealing with excitement as they build a snowman in the real snow pit, flying down the Synergy power slide, getting crafty with arts activities, learning mad circus skills at the FREE circus workshops and getting festive with the Freedom Fairy face painters.

There is so much to see and do at Winterworld Fremantle – check out WHATS ON to plan your day!

NEW IN 2019!

Each year Winterworld brings something NEW, and 2019 is no exception – from Ice skating silent discos, kids shows in the Snow Sister’s Enchanted Forest to YES, you’re reading right, UNICORNS!

Check out WHATS ON for full details on all that Winterworld Fremantle has to offer!

The rink is accessible for all, including wheel chairs and ‘wheely friendly’ sessions throughout the season.

There are special skates and penguins for tiny tots that will help them to skate with a bit more stability and plenty of late night skate sessions for that perfect first date, or a fun night out with your loved ones.

Relax inside The National Hotel’s warm, cosy Cabin Bar sipping on mulled wine and warm winter beverages as you gaze over the rink and through Freo’s famous Norfolk pines. Explore the Market Square with local producers and food stalls serving heart-warming delicacies from across the globe. Grab a spot and roast marshmallows around the blazing fire pits which are scattered throughout the themed outdoor area or cosy up in the ever popular Winter Lounge with soft rugs, comfy couches and inviting tunes.

Winterworld Fremantle is proud to be working with our Principal Partner, City of Fremantle and the THIS IS FREMANTLE brand.

There’s plenty of things to do in Fremantle before or after your ice skating session! Take the kids for hot chocolate or find a place for a yummy lunch – fish and chips at Fishing Boat Harbour is a family favourite. Visit one of Fremantle’s museums or art galleries, book a tour at Fremantle Prison, catch a movie or a puppet show or meander around the Fremantle Markets.

I’m pregnant can I skate at Winterworld Fremantle?

Your safety and the safety of your little one is paramount, for this reason alone we don’t allow you to skate at any stage of your pregnancy. It’s very easy to fall on an ice-rink and we want you to stay toasty warm and safe.

Do you offer any discounts if I bring a group?

Sure do, the more the merrier!

We have Group bookings, End of Financial Year packages and more!

Group Bookings start from 20+

Please email [email protected]  for more information.

Can we book out the entire ice-rink?

This unique venue was made for hosting a party or entertaining clients! Please contact [email protected]  for more information.

How long do we get to skate for?

Each skating session is in a one-hour block, 15mins to get you skate ready and 45 minutes on the ice.

Can families skate during any session?

You are more than welcome to bring your family to any of our skating sessions. Day sessions attract mixed ages with a stronger focus on young families and nights tend to attract an older more mature crowd.

If you would like to bring along a little skater we recommend you consider the morning sessions.

Children aged 5 and under must be supervised on the ice at all times by a parent or guardian with a valid ticket.

Do I have to pay to watch my child ice-skate?

Not at all! Multiple seating options, open fire pits, a cosy bar thanks to our friends at The National Hotel means skating isn’t the only thing to warm you up this winter!  It’s free to spectate and The National Hotel’s Cabin Bar is the perfect place to watch your friends and family skate.

Little Skaters (Under 5) MUST be accompanied on the ice at all times by a Big Skater (18+). Both must have a valid ticket.

Please note: non-paying customers cannot access the Ice Rink or Skate Hire area.

However Parents and Guardians of children (5yrs and over)  skating who DO NOT want to skate may still enter the skate hire area in order to help their children with their skates.

What if I have my own ice skates?

Lucky you, please feel free to bring them along. However all ticket prices do include FREE skate hire and no discounts will be offered if providing your own.

What is a penguin? Will it bite?

The penguins have waddled their way to the West Coast and are there to help you through the winter. The Penguins are there to help, by having something to keep you stable and to push around the rink. They are more suited for the little ones, although adults are welcome to try and NO, they don’t bite.

A limited number of penguins have made the journey; please book in advance to get your hands on one of our little friends.

The rink barriers also act as a great support for those a little unsure.

Can the Penguins run out?

Yes, the penguins are a popular aid and there is only a designated amount available per session. You will be notified at time of purchase if the penguins are SOLD OUT and we do suggest selecting an alternative session or brave the cold on your own.

What should I wear?

Welcome to a frosty winter and by the port in Fremantle, so we strongly recommend wearing comfortable, warm outdoor clothing. Don’t forget to keep your fingers and toes warm, that ice rink is chilly!

Must BYO Socks!

What happens if it’s raining?

WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED. This year at Winterworld Fremantle we have a spectacular rink cover! So you can skate rain or shine!

The only sessions cancelled are those affected by electrical or severe storms. Your health and safety is our priority, and the decision to cancel a session will be announced 15mins before the session start time at the discretion of the event organisers. This is done as close to your session as possibly to give you the best chance of skating. Weather in Perth can be crazy and changes within minutes.

If your session is cancelled we will be in touch to help you reschedule.

Can I cancel or transfer my booking?

Please pick your session carefully as all ticket sales are final at the checkout and cannot be changed or cancelled (unless your session is cancelled by event organisers due to weather).

However, if for some reason you can no longer attend a session, feel free to surprise a friend and pass your ticket on to someone else. As long as they’re the same price type there are no problems.

What time do the rides open and close?

Rides open at 9.30am and close at approx 7pm, however some days we may close a little earlier if it’s quiet and all the kiddies have gone to bed.

Sometimes we may need to do some maintenance on our rides or make fresh snow, in these cases the rides maybe shut for a short time.

Please bear with us and we will be back up and running asap!
